Best New songBob Dylan — My One and Only Love
Posted by LetsLoop on February 17, 2017, 12:22 pm My One And Only Love is the 2nd single from @Bob Dylan's upcoming triple-album, Triplicate, which is out March 31st and follows up last year's Fallen Angels. The song was originally written by Guy Wood and Jack Lawrence in 1947 and was first recorded by @Vic Damone in 1948 under the title Music from Beyond the Moon. It had little success, however, until Robert Mellin re-wrote the lyrics and changed the title to My One And Only Love in 1952 and @Frank Sinatra recorded his version in 1953.
Since then, there have been several versions of this song recorded by artists like @Ella Fitzgerald, @Johnny Mathis, @Doris Day and more, but as a jazz standard it become best known for @John Coltrane's 1963 version with @Johnny Hartman, which you can listen to here.
Triplicate will feature a series of cover versions of American standards, broken into 3 sections: 'Til The Sun Goes Down, Devil Dolls, and Comin’ Home Late. This song falls into the first section, 'Til The Sun Goes Down.
The album (Bob's 38th!) will also feature the recently released lead single I Could Have Told You, a cover of Frank Sinatra's 1953 hit of the same name. You can listen to Frank's original here.
