Best New albumOriginal Broadway Cast of Hamilton — Hamilton (Original Broadway Cast Recording)
Posted by LetsLoop on October 6, 2015, 12:45 amWe don't normally share soundtracks to Broadway shows, but Hamilton is a bit special. It was written by Lin-Manuel Miranda (a recent recipient of the MacArthur "Genius Grant") after he read the biography of Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow and started envisioning a musical version of his life story. The project was initially called "The Hamilton Mixtape" in homage to its hip-hop / street-poet style and after a successful performance at The White House in 2009 was turned into a full broadway spectacle and the album (we hope) you're listening to now (which was produced by Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson and Tariq “Black Thought” Trotter from @The Roots btw). If you're unfamilar with Hamilton, or the story of the founding fathers, you're in for a treat. Not only is it fascinating, but the hip-hop style - we especially love how they turn a cabinet meeting into a rap battle in Cabinet Battle #1 - really brings the story to life and keeps your attention for all 2 hours & 22 minutes of it. We can't recommend this enough!!
