March 8 1994: Nine Inch Nails releases their second album, the dark "The Downward Spiral". Trent Reznor conceived the album in the same house where the Manson Family murdered Sharon Tate, Jay Sebring, Abigail Folger, Wojciech Frykowski and Stephen Parent. It reached no. 2 on the chart just after Soundgarden's "Superunknown" and has sold 4,000,000 copies.
