Best New songBob Dylan — Stardust
Posted by LetsLoop on March 10, 2017, 5:20 pm Stardust is the 3rd single from @Bob Dylan's upcoming triple-album, Triplicate, which is out March 31st and follows up last year's Fallen Angels. The song was originally composed by @Hoagy Carmichael in 1927, with lyrics added in 1929 by @Mitchell Parish. It remains one of the most recorded songs in music history with 1,500 total recordings and, just like the first 2 singles on Triplicate, Stardust was also recorded by @Frank Sinatra in 1961. You can listen to Frank's version here and you might also want to listen to @Nat King Cole's excellent 1957 version here.
Triplicate will feature a series of cover versions of American standards, broken into 3 sections: 'Til The Sun Goes Down, Devil Dolls, and Comin’ Home Late. This song falls into the first section, Comin' Home Late.
The album (Bob's 38th!) will also feature the recently released lead single I Could Have Told You, a cover of Frank Sinatra's 1953 hit of the same name (click here to listen to Frank's original), and My One and Only Love, which was originally written by Guy Wood & Jack Lawrence in 1947 and was first recorded by @Vic Damone in 1948 under the title Music from Beyond the Moon before reaching a wider audience with Frank Sinatra's version in 1953.
